Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 June 2026

OutPerform ("the app", "we", "us") is a health-analytics app for iOS, developed by Afonso de Mello. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and — most importantly — what we don't do with it. The short version: your health data is processed entirely on your device, is never transmitted to us or any server we control, and is never sold or shared.

1. Our core principle: on-device processing

OutPerform has no backend servers and no user accounts. All analysis — recovery, strain, sleep, readiness, cognitive-focus and health metrics — is computed locally on your iPhone. Your health data does not leave your device as a result of using OutPerform's features, and we, the developer, never receive, see, store, or have access to it.

2. Data the app accesses

With your explicit permission, OutPerform reads health and fitness data from the source you choose:

  • Apple Health (HealthKit): heart rate and heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, blood-oxygen (SpO₂), wrist/skin temperature, sleep analysis, workouts and VO₂ max.
  • Google Health: the equivalent metrics (heart rate, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, temperature, sleep sessions, exercise and VO₂ max), accessed read-only through the Google Health API.

Access is read-only. OutPerform does not write to or modify your Apple Health or Google Health records by default. You also provide a small amount of profile information directly in the app (such as date of birth, biological sex and wake time) used purely to personalise calculations; this is stored only on your device.

3. How the data is used

Data is used solely to compute your scores and trends on your device and to display them to you, including in optional home-screen widgets and local notifications (for example a bedtime reminder). It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the app's features to you.

4. Where data is stored

  • Computed results and the metrics needed to produce them are stored in the app's local database on your device (and, for widgets, in a private app group container on the same device).
  • If you connect Google Health, the authorization tokens that let the app read your data are stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device. They are never transmitted to us.
  • We do not maintain any cloud copy of your data.

5. Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your health data with anyone — no advertisers, no data brokers, no third parties. Because processing is on-device and we operate no servers, there is no data for us to share even if we wanted to.

6. Third-party services

Connecting Google Health uses Google's OAuth 2.0 sign-in and the Google Health API. Your interaction with Google is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. OutPerform's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Apple Health data is governed by Apple's HealthKit privacy rules. OutPerform itself includes no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

7. Your control over your data

  • Export: you can export all data the app holds to a plain-text file at any time from Settings.
  • Delete: you can erase all stored data with one tap from Settings.
  • Disconnect: you can revoke the app's access at any time in Apple Health settings or your Google Account permissions, and disconnect Google from within the app.
  • Uninstall: deleting the app removes its local data from your device.

8. Children's privacy

OutPerform is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly process data from them.

9. Medical disclaimer

OutPerform is not a medical device. Its scores and screening signals (including the sleep-apnea/ODI indicator) are informational only and are not a diagnosis or a substitute for professional medical advice.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
